Check out Picture News for some lovely videos, images and discussion points to chat through at home. We use picture news in school for our weekly classroom assemblies and the children always give thoughtful and interesting opinions on the subjects we discuss. Just click on the link below:

Here are some sites that are great for support with your maths learning!

https://ttrockstars.com/

They have some super problem solving challenges and mental maths practice too. The children would enjoy making the resources to use too, they could make their own dice, tens frames, part whole models etc. If you're unsure of anything drop me an email or just ask your little one! They'll probably know the answer :)

Reading and phonics.

At school we use the Read, write, inc scheme for reading and phonics.
There are Read, write, inc Live Phonics lessons on YouTube each morning
at 9.30, 10 and 10.30 for sets 1,2 and 3 letters. These only stay live for 24
hours. To find out which set your child is working on I have listed our phonic
teachers names and set being covered. It would not harm to recap sounds in
other sound lessons that day.
Mrs Smith - set one - moving towards set two
Mrs Bramley - set two moving towards set three
Miss Watling - set three
Mrs Stones - set three

Oxford Owl have a Read, Write inc home learning website  where they
constantly updating resources. There are Ereading books, speedy green
words to learn, Videos, help for parents  and worksheets to match the
sounds we have been learning.

Oxford Owl also have an extensive free eBook Library with a wide
range of books to read.

Audible have also made all their children's stories free to listen to.

Many famous authors are reading their books online daily eg David Walliams.

Welcome to Calder Class Blog

This is a place where you can share what you are doing with each other and in time I will also be setting some tasks for you to complete.

For now, I would just like to see who is out there reading this. So if you can, either leave a comment saying hi or telling us your news. Or if you would rather, just email me to show you are reading the blog, this will give us an idea of how many people are accessing the blog.

Thanks, look forward to hearing from you.
