7 reasons why doing Mental Maths is important:
• It enhances children’s ability to concentrate.
• It stimulates children’s interest in maths.
• It improves the self-confidence of the child.
• It helps with the application skills in maths.
• It helps to reduce mistakes in problem-solving.
• It is strongly associated with better memory skills.
• It stimulates both sides of the brain.
How about a Hit the Button Challenge?

Choose number bonds that you need to learn, if you're not sure start at 10 and see how you get on

Number Bonds to 10
Number Bonds to 20
Number Bonds to 100

Play a game now and record your score then play the same game every day for a week.
What's the best score you get?
How much have you improved from your first score?
Grown ups can take part in this challenge too.
We'd love to hear how you get on.
Perhaps, once you are an expert you can move on to other number bonds or other important mental calculations which are helpful to know by heart

  1. Charlie uses this when he's learning his new times tables and division facts as there's an untimed mode so doesn't put on pressure with him to get the answers quickly. He has played the number bonds and halves too :-)
