John Lewis are launching a competition to find a superhero teddy bear, and we need your help designing it. The winning teddy will be sold in John Lewis and Waitrose shops later this year, with 100% of the profits going to the NHS

 

DESIGN YOUR TEDDY BEAR
In honour of our incredible carers at the NHS, we need designs for superhero-themed bears – don’t feel like you have to stick to the traditional brown bear – we want to see all kinds of super teddies.
Try and incorporate unique elements through colours, patterns, capes, masks – whatever feels exciting for you, but please avoid using any recognisable icons in your designs, such as the ‘NHS’ lettering or Superman logos.

HOW TO ENTER
Share your superhero teddy bear design with us by 5pm on 8 May 2020. An adult over the age of 18 should submit a photo of your design in one of the following two ways:

I just love how polite he looks sitting there and he's made me smile! Thank you Zach and Zach's mummy :) 

Look at this fantastic timeline about Queen Elizabeth made by Charlie! Charlie's mummy helped him to put the events in chronological order and he has even added some interesting facts at the bottom. I challenged Charlie to add the apostrophe in the word Nana's and his mummy has taught him how to use them in different words and sentences too! Well done :)

Ask your child to say the words out loud with the 'le' sound on the end, make sure they can read them independently and understand what they mean before you begin to practice spelling. Can they use the words (with correct suffix) in sentences verbally and written? Can they write any more words in this way? Choosing the correct suffix and spelling accurately? Children should use strategies we practised at school to learn their spellings- they will know what these are (rainbow writing, pyramid writing, bubble writing, look cover write check etc). Ask your child to write some silly sentences using their newly learned words. How many can they fit into one sentence? E.g. 'The worm was worried about replying to the bird's invitation because he wanted to make him happier'. They could make a poster using all of their spelling strategies to display their new learning!

• In 2020, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II turned 94, the first Queen to reach this age.
• Elizabeth was born on 21^st April 1926 as Princess Elizabeth.
• In 2012, the Queen celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. She had been Queen for sixty years! 
• She became queen on 6th February 1952 and was crowned on 2nd June 1953.
• In 2002, the Queen celebrated her Golden Jubilee – 50 years of being Queen of England.

🌟Mrs Burton's Ongoing Project - Who is your hero?🌟

When Mrs Burton was in primary school she did a project all about her hero. It took her weeks! Mrs Burton learned lots of facts, made a booklet, drew and cut out pictures, and she can still remember facts about Gary Winston Lineker now! So it's your turn, choose someone who you admire, learn all about them, then show what you know in whatever way you want e.g scrapbook, PowerPoint, poster. This should be a project you work on over the next few weeks rather than complete in 1 session.
